This is an interactive exhibition of photos, art pieces, text, quotes, and questions I created for Dr. Josie R Johnson, the first African American to serve on the University’s Board of Regents from 1971 to 1973. She also helped establish what is now the Department of African American and African Studies, and led other equity and diversity efforts on campus in the 1990s.
EXHIBITION CEREMONY
Here are a few photos from the exhibition ceremony where we presented the room to Dr. Josie R Johnson. It was a wonderful experience seeing people interact with the exhibition and of course, meeting the inspiring Dr. Johnson.
PROCESS
here is a photo of me planning the layout of one group of elements in the exhibition. Scroll down to watch two videos of me installing the text and image on the walls of the exhibition room. This was the most difficult and fun part of the process. I learned to make quick executive decisions about placement to make sure the room looked even and cohesive.
